She has perfect house manners, walks nicely on leash and knows basic obedience. She would have been snatched up the day after arriving at her foster home except we found that she will chase cats. Posted 5/9/13 (for adoption) LUGG: Black Lab mix; Neutered Male; about 1 year; around 50 pounds; current vaccinations This energetic boy was rescued from a crowded Idaho shelter and lived for a month in a private kennel where he was given good attention and basic training. The kennel owner believes Lugg was totally neglected by his human, and would "hunker down" when approached as if preparing for a kick. After working on positive human focus, Lugg learned how to interact without apprehension. With his new-found confidence he now has a good start on leash walking and basic manners. While Lugg's energy level would probably be overpowering for small children, he loves to fetch a ball or stick, plays with other dogs and seemed unconcerned when he met a cat. Please call 406-961-3029 or email Judy@mtcan.org to meet Lugg.

** ADOPTION PENDING ** Posted 5/9/13 (for adoption) ANNALEE: Anatolian Shepherd mix; Spayed Female; about 1 year; current vaccinations At about 45 pounds this pretty young girl is still filling out her long, slim frame. She has a very kind disposition, is happy to receive good attention from people, romps with other dogs, and is respectful of cats. Annalee doesn't like to be crated, but it's really not necessary since she has been demonstrating good house manners and rides well in a car. She was also tolerant of a bath, which brought a shine to her medium length white coat. Please email Judy@mtcan.org or call 406-961-3029 to meet Annalee. |

Posted 5/2/13 (for adoption) This is CINNAMON. Cinnamon is from the Rocky Boy area. She is 8 months old, Husky/Shepherd type mix. She has been spayed since being trapped for the spay/neuter clinic held there. Like most young feral dogs Cinnamon is timid and trusting and sweet. She will become a very devoted dog. Dogs that have been living outside generally house train very easily. Of course she knows nothing about living in a home, but is quiet and easy and with gentle guidance will adapt very quickly. Ivory is somewhat less timid, but did not have the additional challenge that Sister did, Cinnamon got into a porcupine and the injuries were abscessing. She is recovering. They are in foster care, to hear more about them or to apply to adopt them, please call (406) 799-8787. |

Carter weighs 70 pounds and is very exuberant in greeting new people, but is also content to stay in her crate when she needs quiet time. Carter would probably be best as the only dog in the family. Posted 4/18/13 (for adoption) NIX - This is Nix who is a lovely soft dispositioned soul. Nix is about 5 years old, knows some really good stuff, such as: she's housebroke, crate trained, good with people, doesn't bark, doesn't jump up on people, has no interest in getting on the furniture, has a good recall, and has some tennis ball skills! She has been started on some agility, some therapy disk and therapy ball activities. Nix arrived quite stressed and withdrawn. For the first 3 weeks, she was quite timid, pretty defensive, and resisted most interaction. During that time, she demonstrated some fear behaviors, such as fear biting and retreating to a corner or her crate for long periods of time when she became stressed. However, she is turning into a wonderful dog -- she now approaches to ask for attention, has willingly participated in learning about about the therapy disk and some agility . If she does exhibit extreme fear behaviors, she is getting more easily re-directed using treats. Once she figures out that the interaction will be positive, she becomes quite happy. She has been coming to work with me and has approached everyone and the other large dog here appropriately. Nix will need to be crated in the car due to stress issues. Nix is fostered in Helena MT. Please submit an application at www.herdofwy.com |

Posted 3/1/13 (for adoption) Angus, 3-4 years old, Neutered Male, Border Collie, stray Angus is current on vaccines and micro-chipped. Angus arrived in foster care a very shut down boy with little zest for life. After 2 months this sweet boy is starting to blossom and warms my heart on a daily basis with his progress! Despite being only about 3-4, Angus is wise for his years and could really tell some stories; maybe like the one where he and a partner killed some chickens and when some local ranchers were asked if he belonged to them. Interestingly enough no one wanted to claim him. Or maybe the story about why his front teeth are broken off at the gum line. Maybe a run in with a mean mama cow? Anyway I have promised this young Border Collie that in his next home he will be a treasured member of the family! Besides learning to trust people, Angus is learning life skills in his foster home such as house-training, riding in a car and how to live with other pets. He currently wears his "manties"(man panties) in the house to remind him not to lift his leg and he is improving everyday. Angus absolutely loves other dogs and would do very well with another dog that is a benevolent leader. He does fine with cats mostly just ignoring them at this point. Angus is crate trained and in fact finds his crate a place of security. More of a couch potato type of Border Collie, he would do well with moderate exercise. Angus enjoys walks and is easy to handle on a leash. He will thrive in a quiet, reassuring environment and would love nothing more than someone to appreciate him. Even though he is shy he is very sweet natured and deals with life by avoiding confrontation. Angus is realizing the good in people and loves a good scratch or brushing. He would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard and no children or older ones. If you feel like you can help this sweet boy shine, please contact his foster mom Susan: shetlands@yahoo.com or (406)431-4887

Posted 1/4/13 (for adoption) McGoo - neutered male adult cat. He is a very friendly cat who was abandoned by previous owners in a neighborhood. My daughter rescued him and has cared for him for a year as an indoor cat. However, he gets into territorial disputes with our other male cats . We have tried ways to resolve the problem, but we have decided he would be better off in a home without other male cats. He deserves a forever home. Call Nancy at (406) 218-9727

Huck is a 3 - 4 year old neutered male Australian Shepherd Cross. Huck is a very sweet, extremely loyal dog. He minds well, is well-behaved, doesn't run off. He is quiet inside, not a barker. Eager to please and sensitive, (almost telepathic!) Huck would love to get daily walks, although he doesn't always get them. When we rescued him he wasn't trained but now he comes when called, sits, etc. He craves affection. He has been an ideal dog in every way except that he sometimes snaps at small children - although he hasn't snapped at ours. As we will have small children around for some time, we can't keep him. Call Paul at 406 226-9297 to meet Huck. He is currently in East Glacier.

She is the perfect size, maybe 25lbs. She has gorgeous soft eyes and a unique coat, which is short and easily cared for. Paisley is the sweetest dog ever. She is very affectionate and loyal and loves her person very much. She is easy to train and extremely smart. Good around horses though she does show interest so would probably work stock if properly trained. She has springs in her legs and can get some AIR when she wants to! So far, she has not chewed on anything, though I do crate her at night. Paisley has a very soft and quiet way about her, but will require a lot of exercise because though she never gets hyper, she also never seems tired. She's just always alert and ready to go, but with that mellow and soft way about her. She gets along well with other dogs and is happy to play as long as the other dog can keep up! She appears to be house broken and does well in her crate. Paisley is awesome. Paisley is being fostered in Three Forks MT.
